BIRDS OF
NEW ZEALAND
2014 INTERIOR MURAL COMMISSION
PRIVATE RESIDENCE
- AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND
Mural commission for the bedroom of a private residence located in the Britomart neighbourhood of Auckland, New Zealand. These lovely clients had taken a liking to my See Through You illustrations and requested a birds of New Zealand motif for a bedroom mural, taking inspiration from the Tui, Kōtare, Pīwakawaka, Kārearea & Ruru. This beautiful apartment was home for my first week abroad. I used only black acrylic paint and a lot of different brushes to mimic the gorgeous variety of textures found in these five birds I had never heard of before. I went on to see almost all of these birds in person during my three months down under Down Under.
